Get Out: Fitness Hike, Tennis Fundraiser and More

Another summer weekend, another chance to get out and explore the Oak Park and River Forest area.

Why Go: Leave the kiddos at home for this guided, adults-only hike around the nature museum.
Price: Free


When/Where: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the , 544 N Harlem Ave. in River Forest.
Why Go: John Morlidge, local tennis pro, and a team of superstars will lead drills, games, and a competitive round robin for all levels at the "Play for the Animals" event to benefit the Animal Care League.
Price: $20 for kids 18 and under; $40 for adults

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the , 720 Chicago Ave. in Oak Park
Why Go: The Newcomers & Neighbors of Oak Park & River Forest summer charity event is more like an artsy cocktail party for a good cause, with raffles, art displays and snacks provided by snazzy local restaurants. All proceeds benefit the OPRF Food Pantry and the Animal Care League.
Price: $25 suggested donation per person


When/Where: 10 a.m. Sunday at, 225 Harrison St. in Oak Park.
Why Go: "The Church of Beethoven is a church with no preaching, just uplifting music, poetry and two minutes of silence in an all-too-busy world."
Price: $10 adults / $5 children

When/Where: 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Sunday at , 441 South Blvd. in Oak Park.
Why Go: For all the would-be yoga mamas, this course is "geared towards those trying to conceive. We will practice asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques) that nourish the reproductive organs" and helps relieve stress.
Price: $14 for class; $2 mat rental
