Love for Lake Street Kitchen + Bar

Owner Rachel Dennis gets a shout-out in Chicago Mag.

The folks behind Chicago Magazine's Dish blog have highlighted Lake Street Kitchen + Bar owner Rachel Dennis and her apparent lifelong quest to open a restaurant. Check it out here.

The reviews for the downtown restaurant, 1101 Lake St. have been mixed. Over at Wednesday Journal, food blogger David Hammond praises chef Jason Kurosaki's innovative menu, particularly the grape flatbread — "a good balance of sweetness, acidity, richness and herbaciousness" — as well as the bar's craft beer and wine selection. 

Reviewers on Yelp, meanwhile, haven't been so kind. A handful of people are heaping praise on Oak Park's new, grown-up dining option but some are harping on slow service, noise levels and the apparently small menu. 

Still, the restaurant's not even a month old and they're presumably working out the kinks. What do you think?

Beware of Lake Street Kitchen & Bar, the food is very mediocre and the water down liquor is overpriced even for Oak Park. Also when did become legal in Oak Park that Lake Street Kitchen & Bar was allowed to liquor to go. You do see people walking out of the restaurant with open bottles of wine and plastic cups of beer and other types of liquor. Also if you are an African-American do go and support this business I am just saying. Well this is my 2 cents. Juan
