Madison Street to Get Gussied Up For the Holidays

Holiday Walk in Forest Park will feature sleigh rides, photo-ops with Santa and local business open houses.

Madison Street will be infused with the holiday spirit Nov. 30 during the annual Holiday Walk.

Loads of holiday-related events will be served at starting at 6 p.m. when Santa arrives by fire engine to light to Christmas Tree in Constitution Court at Thomas Avenue and Madison Street. You can visit with Santa and a photo taken from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Forest Park National Bank & Trust, 7348 Madison St.

During the rest of the evening, folks can catch a horse-drawn carriage ride at Beloit and Madison and Marengo and Madison. They can stroll by the big tree in Constitution Court for a marshallow roast hosted by the Park District of Forest Park. Or they can get their face painted at Paulson's Paint, 7400 Madison St.

The best, according to many in town, are the shopkeeper windows, which feature creative and sometimes humorous live holiday displays. And visitors can sound off on their favorite. Special sales and refreshments will be on hand.

There's no special lot set aside for the event - just around the neighborhood and in the municipal lots.
