That's the key question Oak Park business and political leaders are asking in a survey as the once-mighty book retailer at 1144 Lake St. departs a very visible commercial corner.

Here's the survey, which officials said is based on solicitations they've received through various social media channels. It's important to note that while Oak Park officials can't select the building's next tenant, they say "input from residents may be of value to the building management company in its marketing efforts."

Oak Park officials have already said they're . Twitter chatter and Facebook comments indicate some residents would like to see a Crate & Barrel or even a microbrewery.
