Get Out: Creatures, Hay Rides and Other Features

Another weekend, another chance to get out and explore our amazing area.



When/Where: 7 p.m. at , 735 Lathrop Ave.
Why Go: The folks at the library say Friday's activities include "ghoulish games, creepy crafts, a 'spooky stacks' walk, and 2 marionette show performances (first come, first served). We’ll have a hay wagon ride, bonfire, s’mores and pumpkin painting ($1) outside. Wear your costumes!"

THIRD FRIDAY GALLERY WALK
When/Where: Friday evening in the Oak Park Arts District.
Why Go: Many of the district's vibrant art galleries remain open to customers strolling in and out. For a complete list, check out the OPAD website.
Price: Free

CREATURES OF THE NIGHT
When/Where: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St. in Brookfield. Also takes place next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Why Go: Get your spook on with special attractions, including a haunted tram ride, the pumpkin executioner, corn maze and creature feature. More here.
Price: Admission:
$12 for adults; $ 8 for children ages 3-11 and seniors 65 and older; 1/2 off for members; free parking for cars after 6 p.m.

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT RACES
When/Where: On Sunday, 5K begins at 8 a.m.; 10K begins at 8:45 a.m.; Youth Mile begins at 9 a.m.
Why Go: With the exception of the youth mile, registration slots are already filled up for the 35th annual FLW Races, but that doesn't mean you can't wake up and cheer — or volunteer — for the thousands of runners winding through the picturesque streets of Oak Park.
Price: Free to spectate and to volunteer.


When/Where: 2 p.m. Sunday at , 408 S Oak Park Ave.
Why Go: Live action radio troop "Those Thrilling Days of Yesteryear" recreate the CBC's 1949 live radio broadcast of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
