Patch Picks: St. Patrick's Day

Looking for the place to be to eat, drink and be merry? Patch has you covered.

It's St. Patrick's Day, and this time around you won't need a four leaf clover to be considered lucky. To commemorate the holiday, Patch has picked five local watering holes hosting the hottest parties and offering the greatest – and greenest – specials.

Healy's Westside
Located at 7321 W. Madison St. in Forest Park, Healy's is an Irish pub and grill by design, and this year it will be offering a limited menu full of foods akin to Erin (Go Bragh). A representative at the bar tells us there will be more corned beef than any one Irishman or woman can shake a shillelagh at, along with cabbage and beef and lamb stew. (708) 366-4277.

FitzGerald's
The doors open a little early for this year's annual St. Patrick's Day Festival at the legendary roadhouse, located at 6615 Roosevelt Rd. in Berwyn – 1 p.m. to be exact. But that's because there is so much to do. Hundreds, if not thousands, are expected to attend the family friendly event, which features three bands, an Irish step dancing team, a full menu of beers and whiskeys native to Ireland and what's certain to be an obscene sea of green. Tickets $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under. (708) 788-2118.

Sláinte Irish Pub
Located at 7505 Madison St. in Forest Park, this pub on the street of dreams typically goes all out when it goes green, and this year the bar will be celebrating in style. Patch was told the bar will offer its regular beer and drink specials, including deals on 16-ounce beers. For the adventuresome, there will also mystery shots. It's best to get there early, as the venue's two levels tend to fill fast with the Irish and the Irish associated. (708) 366-4977.

O'Sullivan's Public House
Located at 7244 Madison St. in Forest Park, O'Sullivans has created a special holiday menu and it is one that will not disappoint. Pulled pork, chicken tenders and other favorites are included on the menu, with the traditional corned beef serving as the day's main attraction. As always, the drinks will be cold and the beers on tap at this area hot spot. (708) 366-6667.

Barclay's American Grille
It has “American” in the name, we know, but as the luck of the Irish would have it, they know how to throw one heck of a St. Patrick's Day party. Pints of Guinness are just $5, and a traditional Irish dinner consisting of corned beef, cabbage and red potatoes is $15. That offer is good all this week, through Sunday the 20th, according to the bar's website. (708) 848-5000.
