Bee Home and Garden in Oak Park recently opened Chicago Avenue in Oak Park.

A new shop with an eye towards vintage house wares has recently opened on Chicago Avenue in Oak Park.

Bee Home and Garden, located at 128 Chicago Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

The new boutique is the first for longtime Oak Park resident Colleen Maia and offers a little bit of everything, Forest Leaves reported.

Calling her ware a collection of things she finds pretty, Maia said the store offers vintage china, furniture, jewelry and more. The inventory is still growing as Maia heads out to local estate sales looking for new goods to stock the shop.

According to the article in the Forest Leaves, residents in the area are as excited as the owner about the new shop opening. Mia told the paper she decided to open on Oak Park's east side in response to resident's questions about why there isn't more business development on the east side of town.

Things seem to be going well for the new business owner; they were even recently featured on a CBS2 report about Small Business Saturday in Oak Park. Look for Maia in the report just past the 1:20 mark.
