I'm not ready to write the words yet, but a certain gift-giving holiday is right around the corner.
Those interested in shopping locally for their gifts this year should take note: CarefulPeach Boutique, 1024 North Boulevard in Oak Park, is hosting a trunk show this Thursday, Oct. 11.
CarefulPeach always has lots of neat items for the home in stock like candles, table clothes and dinner sets, but their Local Luxury Trunk Show this Thursday will feature special guests Two Girls Gems of River Forest and Lifetherapy, a bath and body brand out of Hinsdale. Customers can also enjoy complimentary appetizers and apertifs while they shop.
Two Girls Gems, based out of River Forest, features a jewelry collection of handmade items from vintage pieces of jewelry that are then updated with modern embellishments. The pieces they create are creative and have a vintage inspired look without feeling dated, or dug out of an antique shop. They also feature sterling silver and 14K gold accents and precious and semi-precious stones, so what you're getting doesn't look cheap either.
"It's nice to be able to get a chance to talk with the people who create these products," said Jessie Austin, manager at CarefulPeach. "We love products with a local focus, so we try and showcase it when we can."
The trunk show will kick off at 5 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the shop.
Additionally, a portion of the evening's sales will be donated to _Amity School Children's Aid_, a local charity that helps public school children to get the expensive necessities their families might need.
"You can pick up something as a gift—of for yourself—and know that it's helping to make a donation," Austin said. CarefulPeach regularly donates proceeds from their show to local charitable organizations around Oak Park, she added.
If you miss this show, Austin said you'll have another chance to attend a CarefulPeach trunk show in the near future. In late October, the boutique will feature of a cashmere company whose products they'll be introducing to the store this year.
