Val's Halla Records Trying for Super Bowl Ad

Oak Park record shop makes it past first round in contest to win a Super Bowl commercial.

Oak Park's record store of over 40 years, Val's Halla Records, 239 Harrison St., is competing in the Intuit Small Business Big Game contest to win a 30-second Super Bowl commercial in 2014.

After passing the first round with a major Facebook push in August and September, Val's Halla will now have to answer a series of questions and post a 90-second video sharing the store's story on their contest page, Oak Leaves reports.

The pool will be narrowed down to 20 entries in late October, when voting goes to Intuit employees. Four finalists will make it to the last round in November.

The 41-year-old business has posted answers to two questions so far about their proudest moments and why people love their business. Check out their page here.

You can vote for Val's Halla Records online here until Oct. 13.

Val's Halla owner Val Camilletti talked to Oak Leaves about the contest so far. Read the story here.
