Oak Park, River Forest Dominick's Stores to Close
The Chicago Tribune reports the store's parent company, Safeway, wants to pull out of the Chicago market within the year. Zagat: Gaetano's Among Chicago's Top Italian Restaurants

Lou Malnati's Opening in Early 2014 in Oak Park
Lou Malnati's should be open at 1038 Lake St. in downtown Oak Park in January 2014, according to a tweet from the restaurant group. Slated to open this fall, Lou Malnati's wrote, "We had delays with some other construction projects we were working on and were not able to start in Oak Park as planned."

Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in Oak Park
The Illinois Lottery announced an Oak Park store sold a grand-prize winning ticket for the Wednesday evening Lucky Day Lotto drawing. The winner, who has yet to come forward, purchased their winning ticket at True Discount Food Mart, 1155 Garfield Street, in Oak Park.

Work Your Core at the Dailey Method in Oak Park (Just Go to the Barre)
There's a new way to work your core in Oak Park—just head to the barre. The Dailey Method, 208 S. Marion St., opened the weekend of Oct. 19, offering classes that combine ballet barre work, core conditioning, stretching and orthopedic exercises. The company has been featured by SELFInStyle, Allure and several other women's magazines for the Dailey Method's challenging, full-body workouts. 

Oak Park Approves Lake and Forest Development Extension
Officials approved an eight-month extension to the village's agreement with Lake Street Investors for the redevelopment of the corner of Lake Street and Forest Avenue in downtown Oak Park. With May 15 as the target groundbreaking date, developers will need to provide proof that they have secured equity for the project, a 20-story high-rise containing commercial and residential space, by Jan. 15 before a Feb. 28 deadline to provide all proof of financing. The target closing date is now April 30. Related: Lake and Forest Development: The Fiance That Stood Us Up?

Maya Del Sol Celebrates 6 Years in Oak Park
Maya Del Sol, 144 S. Oak Park Ave., celebrated its six-year anniversary with big discounts during the week of Oct. 14-17, a "rewarding week" for the restaurant, said General Manager Paul Abu-Taleb.

Defiant Comics Now Open in Forest Park
The owners say they want to defy any traditional perceptions of comics stores. That makes its name, Defiant Comics, fitting. “It's sort of a philosophy, that we're defying the idea that people have of what a comic shop is,” co-owner Brian Fisher said. Defiant Comics is located at 7234 W. Madison St. in Forest Park.
