Local Residents Co-Author Article in Illinois Bar Journal

Oak Park resident Justin A. Maleson, an associate in Jenner & Block’s Chicago office, and River Forest resident R. Douglas Rees, assistant chief deputy attorney general with the Illinois Attorney General’s office, are the authors of “A Practical Guide to Injunction Bonds Under Illinois Law,” an article which appears in the February 2014 issue of the “Illinois Bar Journal,” the monthly magazine of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

A party facing an injunction can gain powerful settlement leverage by persuading the court to impose a high bond on the plaintiff. The plaintiff, on the other hand, wants the lowest possible bond or none at all. In the article, the authors address the bond issue under Illinois law from the perspectives of the parties seeking and opposing an injunction.

The 32,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
