Fast Facts: Trinity is ranked in the Top 10 by both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times. Nazon leads the Blazers in scoring at 15 points per game. Prochaska adds four assists and three steals per game to go with her 14 points. Trinity has done it without leading scorer Mikayla Leyden, who is out for the season with a knee injury. However, 6-foot freshman Maryam Wilcher is expected back next week. The Blazers are on a streak of 10 straight regional titles as they look to make a run in the postseason. They have won one sectional title in Stritzel’s seven years (2010) and haven’t reached the state tournament since 2006. Gettis is the most dynamic scorer in the game, leading Hillcrest with 20.5 points per game. Sherrill averages 10.5 points per game while Awoniyi scores 11.5 points and snags 10.8 rebounds per game for the Hawks. Hillcrest coach John Maniatis said that the Hawks have been playing well in spots so far this season, but he is looking for his team to put together four solid quarters. Hillcrest is coming off an impressive three-year stretch which saw it finish second in Class 3A in 2010 and 2011 and third in 2012.

Quotable: “Our team is very athletic and dynamic,” Trinity coach Eddie Stritzel said. “We’re trying to mesh our great young talent with our veterans to make another state title run this year.”
