Alex Kotlowitz - Discussion and Book Signing
Concordia University Chicago continues its 150th Anniversary Speakers Series on Thursday, February 6 by hosting award-winning journalist, best-selling author and documentarian Alex Kotlowitz.
The free event will be held in the Chapel of our Lord on the University’s River Forest campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with Kotlowitz’s lecture beginning at 7 p.m. A book signing and reception will take place at 8 p.m. with books available for purchase. Kotlowitz will share his views on the education system, the struggles faced by inner-city youth, and contemporary Chicago.
He is widely known for his book “There Are No Children Here: The Story of Two Boys Growing Up in the Other America,” which is listed as one of the most important books of the 20th century by the New York Public Library and was adapted for a television movie starring Oprah Winfrey. In his most recent book, “Never a City so Real,” the author shares a collection of touching stories about contemporary Chicago.

The Concordia University Chicago campus is located at 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest. Free handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot north of the University parking structure off Bonnie Brae Street.
