D97 Board of Ed Earns Prestigious Designations and Awards from IASB

The District 97 Board of Education was one of 10 boards from among the more than 850 in the state that recently earned the Illinois Association of School Board’s (IASB) 2013 School Board Governance Recognition designation. This recognition is designed to acknowledge school boards that have “engaged in activities and modeled behaviors that lead to excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education.”

In addition to this honor, several board members were recognized for individual accomplishments. These accomplishments included:

  • Bob Spatz and Jim Gates maintaining their status as Master Board Members.
  • Amy Felton earning a Board Level II designation, which means she is more than halfway to achieving Master Board Member status.
  • Graham Brisben becoming a member of the IASB LeaderShop Academy, which exemplifies a commitment to life-long learning.

The Master Board Member program “recognizes the service and participation of school board members in various IASB and/or National School Board Association activities within and beyond their local districts.”
