After Foot Chase, Two Charged in River Forest Burglary

Authorities say one cop makes back-to-back arrests.

A pair of Chicago men have been charged in connection with a daytime burglary after a foot chase across Harlem Avenue. 

Police were called to the 700 block of Bonnie Brae Place around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday after a witness spotted two men believed to be involved in a residential burglary. 

An officer spotted Danjuan O. McClinton, 20, and Derek Butler, 44, near Bonnie Brae Place and Oak Avenue, prompting both men to run away, police said.

The officer quickly caught up to one of the men, arrested him in the Chase banking branch at Oak Street and Harlem Avenue and placed him in a squad car, according to a news release. 

The same officer tracked down the second man, who was spotted hiding behind an apartment complex on the 500 block of Harlem Avenue in Oak Park. Police said the "second subject had in his possession a pillowcase with jewelry and other items" taken during the residential burglary.

McClinton, of 5011 W. Erie in Chicago and Butler, 44, of 9050 S. Normal in Chicago, were each charged with residential burglary.
