Annual Book Sale Begins Friday at OPRF

Get in line. Oak Park Public Library's 41st annual event opens Friday evening.

At , what used to resemble a cafeteria now looks like a book emporium, lined wall-to-wall with thousands of books.

Volunteers have spent afternoons and evenings since the beginning of July helping sort the nearly 100,000 books, as well as records, DVDs, videotapes, computer games and CDs, into categories for book fair patrons.

The money raised by the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library at the fair goes back to the library and will be used to fund special programs such as the summer reading program, author readings, a film series and Young Adult Coffeehouses.
