Salary Bumps Approved For District 200 Administrators

The Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 Board of Education last week approved administrator salary increases for fiscal year 2014, which begins today, according to a District 200 news release.

With a few exceptions, administrators are receiving 2.5 percent increases, in keeping with the average faculty increase for 2013-2014. The compensation for district- and building-level administrators as a whole, however, represents a 0.24 percent increase over the FY 2013 budget, primarily because of new hires who cost less than the administrators they've replaced, according to the release.

Superintendent Dr. Steven Isoye took a salary freeze for FY 2013 and receives a three percent increase this year, raising his base salary to $215,000 from $208,000.

"For the past several years, the District has been working to align the salaries of administrators with cohort schools in the Northwest Personnel Administrators (NWPA), so that the District maintains its ability to attract and retain top talent," according to the release.

Discrepancies were found in compensation levels for several positions, which have been adjusted for the following reasons: Assistant superintendent of pupil personnel services, increase of 9.42% to $145,000; Two assistant principals, increases of 8.33 percent and 8.01 percent to $130,000; Athletic director, 8.72 percent increase to $121,000; and Division head of special education, 5.93 percent increase to $116,522.

The Board also approved average increases of 2.5 percent for the non-affiliated personnel group, which includes directors and supervisors who are not members of a collective bargaining unit.

The total compensation for the group represents a 0.16 percent decrease over FY 2013, due mainly to eliminating the position of administrative assistant for the superintendent as well as to the retirement of employees whose salaries were higher than those of their successors, according to the release.
