A look at some lovely local specials.

Regardless of how you may feel about the holiday, you should probably do something nice. You both deserve it. Here's a look at local restaurant and food specials. Downtown Oak Park has a rundown of some shopping specials, too.

Valentine's brunch menu — red velvet pancakes! — on Saturday; special menu on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.

Heart-shaped pizzas Friday through Tuesday; half-off wine bottles on Saturday and Sunday; Valentine's Day dinner with heart-shaped raviolis on Tuesday.

Special Valentine's day menu, Feb. 10-14 (Regular dinner menu also available)

Heart-shaped pizzas and a contest for an overnight stay at the Carleton Hotel and a $100 Cucina Paradiso gift card. For the forlorn lovers, they're offering a special dessert menu, with items like "Cold Shoulder" Gelato and "Bittersweet Ending" triple mousse.

Heart-shaped pizzas Friday through Sunday.

Burger Boss, 7512 W. North Ave. in Elmwood Park
Stuff each other's faces with a big burger nestled between a special, extra-large Brioche "lovers" bun, prime for splitting.

Delia's Kitchen, 1034 Lake St.
Friday through Tuesday, they'll be serving a chocolate brioche French toast with fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce and a red velvet heart shaped pancake served with cream cheese.

We hear the Whoopie Pies (3 for $8; 6 for $16) are flying out the door. Bring the fam to Buzz's Valentine's Day family dinner on Tuesday, which features pre-set pricing ($30 for adults; $15 for kids) for an adult menu, kids menu and vegetarian menu. BYOB. Act quick, spots filling up fast.

Down craft pints and wines as musician Steve Sebby kicks out the Love Jams. 7:30-10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Munch together on some cupid "cupid crunch" popcorn made with red-hot cinnamon, or indulge in some chocolate drizzle carmel corn.

Unity Temple, 875 Lake St.
Go big with fine wine, gourmet chocolates and a jewelry sale, all set against the candlelit ambiance of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece.

Just saw this one, via Lake Street Kitchen + Bar's Facebook page: "Tonight (Friday) Lake Street is THE PLACE to be! Live Music (9-11pm)! Single Mingle Mixer (9pm-2am)! Valentine's special drinks from the bar and chef's specials from the kitchen (of course we've got your regular menu)! Open til 2 am! Spend your Friday at Lake Street ... we've got something for everyone!"

Can't believe I forgot about this one, especially after writing about it last week, via Avenue Ale House FB page: "The Avenue ALe House knows your Heart! This weekend let us give you something special like a dinner for two that includes gourmet bread, choice of 2 soups, 2 salads, and 2 desserts, and each of you will get a Surf N Turf Entree with Filet Mignon and Lobster tail For only $99! We have more Valentine's Day Specials as well, all of this from 2/9/12-2/14/12." Corepower Yoga at 7513 Lake St. in River Forest has a free 75 minute partner yoga class at 6pm. Stay after and try some wine pairings and cheese!!
