Crumbleaya: Business owners in the Oak Park Arts District , when part of a building in the 200 block of Harrison Street collapsed and spilled thousands of bricks onto the sidewalks and street. Harrison Street has reopened; Wednesday Journal reports a nearby sidewalk remains closed, along with a few parking spots. A cause for the collapse has yet to be determined.

Red Light Riposte: The River Forest Village Board will vote on Monday to approve or shoot down the addition of red light cameras at two heavily traveled local intersections: westbound North Avenue at Harlem Avenue and southbound Harlem Avenue at Lake Street. At least one elected official, Trustee Susan Conti, isn't feeling it and wants residents to speak up on the issue. (Via Wednesday Journal)

Bullseye for Target: A village-backed survey asking Oak Parkers to prioritize what type of store they'd like to see replace Borders at Lake Street and Harlem Avenue is back. The top pick? A "general merchandise" store, like an "urban style" Target. Agree? Disagree? .

Drug Bust: A police investigation of an apartment at Harrison Street and Austin Boulevard turned up a .40-caliber handgun, ammunition and two safes containing 126 grams of marijuana, 29.7 grams of cocaine, $1,000 in cash, a money counting machine and scales. .

Book Sale a Boon: Steve Kirshenbaum, president of the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library, said although final totals haven't been tallied, it's "safe to say" .

You Better Recognize: Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple in Oak Park could join a list of nearly 1,000 cultural and architectural sites across the globe recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's World Heritage List. (via Oak Leaves)

Digging on Bricks: "Buried somewhere underneath two blocks of North Humphrey are brick streets, now covered in asphalt," writes Marty Stempniak at Wednesday Journal. "Those streets are due for a makeover, but rather than slapping on more asphalt, Oak Park Village Hall plans to unearth the old brickwork in the near future."
