Animal Care League's Holiday Bazaar - 28 Years of Making Seasons Bright

What do you call six rooms of holiday shopping, photos
with Santa, massages, face painting, a kids’ corner and live music?  We call it a huge success.

Back for its 28th year, Animal Care League’s Annual
Holiday Bazaar did not disappoint.  The
12-hour shopping extravaganza was held over two days – December 6 and December
7 – and with gift prices starting at twenty-five cents, it’s a shopper’s
paradise.  Friday’s festivities began at
3PM ending at 9PM.  The Friday crowd was
lined up at the door before opening ready to shop, many people leaving with
multiple shopping bags.

Saturday’s event began at 9AM with many festive
highlights:  There was live music by
local musicians John Lewis, Bill Steed, and John Milan and the ever—popular
raffle included more than 90 prizes.
However, the big draw was photos with Santa.  From 10AM – 2PM people with kids in tow and
their “fur babies” lined up for the opportunity and more than 100 photos were
taken.    Santa (AKA Phil Edwards) was born for this
job, jolly and happy with humans and animals alike.

Known for its wide array of gifts, home decorations,
holiday décor and crafts, this year’s bazaar had more than 50 pet gift baskets,
handmade cat and dog beds, homemade baked goods and pet treats, as well as one
whole corner of world market gifts collected from all over the globe.  Collectors were also in luck with tables full
of Santa, angel, and snowman figurines.

Approximately 600 shoppers passed through the doors of
this two-day event.  Tose numbers and a
fundraising total of more than $16k made this hear’s bazaar the most successful
ever.
