Country Night in Berwyn with Slim Pickins, The Country Doctors and Decoy Prayer Meeting (SideBar Music Room)

SLIM PICKINS BAND (8 pm): What do you get when you mix some of the most talented local musicians and a collection of country hits from past to present?  The Slim Pickins Band! You’ll be tappin' your cowboy boots as you hear and feel the echoes of artists like Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, Derailers and many other country stars.  Dance to the rhythmic boom of the upright bass and the sweet howl of the fiddle and steel guitar as these established Chicago musicians countrify your soul. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Slim-Pickins-Band/177653799617

THE COUNTRY DOCTORS (9 pm): The Country Doctors founded their practice in 2001. They refer to themselves as an “alt-classic-neo-traditionalist-honkabilly band.” Their roots are in the heartfelt repertoire of country musicians who played and sang with a purity of emotion often lacking in the genre today, while at the same time embracing contemporary artists who share a similar approach to country music.  The Docs emphasize vocal harmonies, tight arrangements and hot instrumental solos. A typical Docs performance will include their original songs as well as the genre-defining sound of vintage honky-tonkers such as Hank Williams and Buck Owens, songs by country outlaws like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and music from contemporary and alternative country artists. Most importantly, they like to have fun with their music and their audience. https://www.facebook.com/CountryDoctors

DECOY PRAYER MEETING (10 pm): DPM has been playing around Chicago since 2004, doing a variety of tunes from the '40s through '70s by such as: Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Gram Parsons, Louvin Brothers, Everly Brothers, Bob Dylan, Charlie Pride, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Gene Watson, Cindy Walker, the Flatlanders, Marshall Crenshaw, Hank Williams and others of that ilk.
