Dominican University Hosts Family Festival of Stories

Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science and Illinois Storytelling Inc. will host the second annual Family Festival of Stories, a celebration of families, the fall season and storytelling, on Friday, October 18, in the Fine Arts Building on the university’s main campus, 7900 W. Division, River Forest.

The celebratory event begins at 6 p.m. with face painting, followed by a Fancy Face and Costume Parade at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., area storytellers Beth Horner and Kucha & Baba Tony will perform stories for children in grades K-6 and their families.

Beth Horner is a recipient of the National Storytelling Network Circle of Excellence Oracle Award.  A noted storytelling performance and teaching artist for the past 30 years, Horner has performed at the National Storytelling Festival, on Live From National Geographic, and has produced six award-winning storytelling recordings.

Kucha & Baba Tony are a dynamic storytelling duo that combine their experience as storytellers to weave a rich tapestry of African, African-American and Spanish folk tales, frolicking fables, proverbs and dialect into their cultural performance art.

Admission is $5 per family or individual. For additional information, email info@storytelling.org.
