Stress Less in 2013!

Thrive Counseling Center helps decrease the negative impact of stress by offering a Stress Reduction through Mindfulness & Meditation course starting January 29, 2013.  This eight-week course meets on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm at Thrive Counseling Center (120 S. Marion St. Oak Park, IL).  The course helps participants understand stress and the impact it has on your mind and body.  It also gives participants the proper tools to reduce stress in their own lives.

“Mindfulness helped me become more aware of the little things in life that matter most,” said one recent course participant. “I’m really experiencing my life now, instead of thinking about the past.”

Participants will learn how to become “mindful” or aware of the present moment.  They will learn meditation, mindful eating, mindful breathing, and individually tailored techniques.  Participants will also learn how to use mindfulness techniques as a means of decreasing conflict, pain, anxiety, depression and daily stressors.  Meditation techniques will be taught using guided and unguided practices.  Participants will be given instructional materials and an audio CD so they can practice learned techniques at home.

“Most people have heard of mindfulness or meditation when they start the course” said instructor and licensed clinician, Angela Potaczek. “But they leave with real knowledge of how to recognize stressors, process them, and let them go. This not only helps you relax, it helps you lead a happier, healthier life.”

The eight-week course costs $150 (course materials included). To register or request information, please contact Angela Potaczek, LCPC at 708-383-7500 x115 or apotaczek@thrivecc.org.  More information can also be found by visiting www.Thrivecc.org.
