Explore Cheney Mansion Kitchen Garden with Charlie Ruedebusch Sept. 28

Tour the Cheney Mansion kitchen garden with Charlie Ruedebusch to learn what native plants help attract beneficial insects to pollinate the vegetable garden. Bring a few small paper bags and a pen. You can collect seeds of the native plants you most desire in your garden.

At 2:30, Ginger Vanderveer will lead a bicycle tour across Oak Park, searching out food souces for bees, butterflies and birds. The bike tour will stop at Scoville Park, Jackson Boulevard parkway, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and homes. This event is sponsored by Wild Ones, a national organization which promotes use of native plants in landscaping in order to save eco-systems that nurture bees, butterflies, and other native fauna. It is part of the Green Living and Learning Tour in Oak Park.
