Exposure Local Music Showcase with Lovers' Quarrel, Blue Lincolns, Groove Witness

LOVERS' QUARREL ( 8 pm): Variously referred to as the “Buster Keaton of Chanteuses” and “the demented love-child of Marlene Dietrich and Lucille Ball,” American singer/performer Meredith Miller evokes a classic, old-fashioned, 1930s glamour that is both stately and timeless. With subtle facial expressions and very precise movements, Miller conveys dark, macabre, and creepy in an enticing and fascinating way. Manically beautiful and humorous, her performances have been described as a “slow and subtle gripping about the neck”, and her rendition of Mack the Knife has been described as “the worms and beetles that scurry out if you peek at the mud under Sinatra’s rendition.”

BLUE LINCOLNS (9 pm): The Blue Lincolns are a hot, exciting band that meshes the sounds of classic rock-n-roll, blues, rock-a-billy, surf, and original music. They are a group of accomplished musicians who are as much fun to watch as they are to listen to. From Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash to Tom Petty and Elvis. From the Beatles and Stones to the doors and the Ventures.

GROOVE WITNESS (10 pm): Following in the tradition of other jazz-funk groups like Liquid Soul, Galactic, and Soulive, Groove Witness plays mostly instrumentals, occasionally adding vocals when the collective muse demands it. Groove Witness plays mostly original songs, and most of the band's original music is collectively composed by the entire band. A tune is usually born with a contribution from a single member - an entire form and chord progression, a simple bass line and a bit of a melody, a guitar riff and a couple chords - and then the band goes through many live iterations of a tune, trying out different musical ideas and concepts before settling on the final arrangement.
