Oak Park School of Rock Presents: The British Invasion

Students from the Oak Park School of Rock perform tunes from the British Invasion era. Doors open at 1 pm. In 1963, the Beatles' debut on U.S. television unleashed a wave of bands from across the pond that would come to be known as the British Invasion, defining rock and pop music in the 1960s. More than mere Beatlemania, the British Invasion brought bands like The Who, The Rolling Stones, and the Animals to American audiences for the first time. School of Rock students pay tribute to these bands and more, including Donovan, the Zombies, the Kinks and many more.  For more than a decade, School of Rock has been inspiring kids to rock on stage and in life. Through its performance-based approach to music lessons, School of Rock students are inspired to learn, more motivated to excel and more confident as a result. Students begin playing music as quickly as possible to deliver a more authentic musical experience, using professional equipment, a staff of seasoned musicians, and performances on real rock stages. To date, School of Rock students have played thousands of concerts to more than 100,000 people at such legendary venues such as CBGB's, The Trocadero, The Knitting Factory, The Whiskey, The Roxy, The Experience Music Project, as well as major music festivals like Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. The Oak Park School has enrolled over 100 students since it opened in May 2013, teaching guitar, bass, drums, voice, and keys to all ages.

Doors open at 1 pm. Admission is $10 advance, 12 at the door. Tickets available through the school.
