The SideBar Sessions with The Chris Madsen Quartet

Jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator Christopher Madsen has made impressive accomplishments during his musical career. He serves as Jazz Studies Coordinator at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Directs the Jazz Program at Midwest Young Artists in Highwood, IL, and has coordinated the Northwestern University Summer Jazz Band since 2009. Madsen is an in-demand figure in the Chicago jazz world as a composer, performer, and pedagogue. He is a sought-after jazz clinician, often adjudicating and offering clinics to ensembles of all ages and levels.

Madsen's sax has a tough center with soft edges, communicating directly to the listener; the vibe created somehow evokes Wayne Shorter's albums of the '60s without copying them.    allaboutjazz.com
