Authorities say Alejandro Cruz, 33, ran into traffic and was fatally struck by car. Family and friends are mourning the loss.

Friends and family are mourning the loss of Alejandro Cruz, an Oak Park resident who was fatally struck by car on the West Side.

Authorities said Cruz, 33, of the 700 block of Lexington Street, had ran into traffic in the 400 block of South Pulaski Road around 8 a.m. Sunday and was struck by a 2004 Chevy Impala. The driver of that car, Mario Rodriguez, 22, of Chicago, was charged with not having his driver’s license or proof of insurance on him at the time of the accident, according to media reports.

Oak Leaves has more on the man friends and neighbors said was "soulful" and deep into spiritiuality.
