Oak Park to Offer Youth Employment Skills Workshop

Program pairs teens with professionals in an effort to develop crucial job skills.

Hey teens: Get off the couch, away from the TV and peel your eyes away from the smartphone.

Sorry, we don't mean to overgeneralize — this area is truly packed with talented, go-getting teenagers. But some may need a kick, or some guidance.

Oak Parkers ages 14 through 17 are invited. Organizers with the village's Community Relations Department say you'll learn critical job skills, like "developing self-confidence, personal development, conflict resolution, goal setting and goal achievement. Participants also will learn about successful job interviewing techniques and proper resume writing, as well as employer expectations and proper attire."

The workshop will be held from 3-6:15 p.m. Aug. 13 – 17 at , 123 Madison St. Interested? The deadline to register is Fri., Aug. 10.
