Registration Open for Family Triathlon

Start stretching. A new family-friendly competition will take over the Pleasant District.

Think your family has what it takes to finish a triathlon?

No? Well, that's OK.

In fact, you and your brood are precisely the type of competitors that organizers with the first-ever Pleasant District Family Triathlon are looking for.

The event is scheduled for 7 a.m. on September 29. Competitors will work in teams of two — one child (ages 7 to 15) and one adult (16 and over). Registration is $55 per team.

On race day, participants will swim at the , transition to cycling on stationary bikes provided by Greenline Wheels, and then run in a race hosted by on Marion Street between Randolph Street and South Boulevard. A further breakdown:

Kids ages 7-10 years old and an adult will participate in a 100 meter swim, 4K bike, and 1K run; kids ages 11-15 years old and an adult will face a 200 meter swim, 8K bike, and 2K run.

Organizers are offering a 12-week training sessions led by Tony Zamora of TZ Training for $45 per team in the lead up to race day.
