Independence

"Independence? That's middle class blasphemy. We are all dependent on one another, every soul of us on earth." ----- George Bernard Shaw

When I first read that, I thought, "Well there's a cynic!" But then, the more I thought about it, the more I realized he is right about being dependent -- funny thing is, in order to be independent, we all need to be dependent.

Whether it is emotional independence, physical independence, or financial independence, we need to depend on others to get there -- whether we depend on a loved one, family member, a friend(s), a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer, a reporter, a company and it's products, a financial planner, etc., etc. We need to accept others help, information and advise so that we can be independent. And, we need to give other people help, information, and advice so they can be independent.

So, as we celebrate this Independence Day Weekend, let's be thankful for one another and that we have the privilege to help each other in our quest for independence while recognizing our dependence !!!!

P.S. - Don't know what to make out of the middle class comment.....
