Present: Supervisor David Boulanger, Township Manager Gavin Morgan, Trustees Mary Cozzens, Clarmarie Keenan, James Taglia, Attorney John Garofalo.
Absent: Clerk Gregory White and Trustee Ade Onayemi
Also Present: Consultant Bruce Jensen and League of Women’s Voter Mary Haley.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Boulanger.
Board members present approved the minutes of the January 14 meeting and also approved the bills for the period January 15, 2014 through January 24, 2014.
Report On Strategic Planning Process
Strategic planning consultant Bruce Jensen and Manager Morgan shared results from the reports for Stakeholder Interviews and Client Surveys. They highlighted some of the challenges to the Township, along with new directions to consider.
There is a need for three major areas or segments to be explored.
1. Problematic Areas (what are some of the challenges or things needed to be change)
2. Communication : Trustees Cozzens and Keenan suggested that everyone involved with the Township should embrace the Township mission and be fluent in what the Township does.
3. Building Collaberative Relationships: (enhancing knowledge of the Township and community). Supervisor Sloan from the River Forest Township will be a member of the Oak Park Township Strategic Planning Process.
Action Item
Supervisor Boulanger asked Mr. Jensen and Manager Morgan to formulate a plan to have an open gathering possibly on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for about 15-20 leadership people. This would be a Come Together To Get Acquainted on what services are provided by the Township.
Township Manager Report
Manager Morgan reported that the Senior Services meals and transportation programs functioned as normal. The Kopf Foundation will donate monies that can be used towards computers, printers, and possibly home delivery bags.
He also gave an update on costs for the new health insurance plan. He discussed budget and said spending is down and the Township is below budget.
