Board of Trustees Meeting

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Present:  Superior Carla Sloan;  Trustees Veronica Belmonte, Mark Kelty, Anna Romeo, and Mary O'Brien

Also in Attendance:   Clerk Karen Taubman, Mental Health Administrator Avis Rudner, Community Center Director Dick Chappell, Pat Deadly, and Nick Hudalle.

Absent:  Assessor Pam Kende

 

The minutes of the October 15 meeting were approved.

 

Assessor's Report

Clerk Taubman read a report from Assessor Kende.  

Letters were mailed to residents that requested adjustments in their tax bills.

River Forest joined other suburbs in requesting a mapping meeting with the county.

River Forest will have a triannual assessment.

 

Mental Health

Mental Health Committee considered funding for next year.

NAMI  is expanding services.

The director of Sarah's Inn has resigned.

Parenthesis is considering involvement with the early childhood program.

 

Youth

Youth Committee met  in November.

Trinity and  Fenwick will be involved with the Face-It Program.

Four out of thirteen River Forest youths received services from the Face-It Program.

Oak Park / River Forest Townships bhave had no signed agreement for youth services this year.

Oak Park Township has requested River Forest Township to consider paying 20 per cent of the funding needed for youth services, since 20 per cent of youth are from River Forest.

Brief discussion about the criteria that should used to determine the amount River Forest should pay for youth services.

 

Senior Committee

Motion passed to approve a new member to the Senior Committee.

A presentation of Wills and Trust is scheduled for November 21 - this presentation is free for River Forest residents.

Supervisor Sloan has collected ideas and recommendations from seniors by attending the scheduled coffee and technology sessions at the River Forest Library.

 

Administrative

District 90 hopes to present an exterior plan soon.

Park District will provide a rink for ice skating.

Library has hired a professional fund raiser.

Offices at the Community Center have been updated.

Supervisor attended a conference pertaining to management and function of townships.

Supervisor joined Oak Park Township in sponsoring a tree at the cost of $70. - some funds may be returned.

The completed audit was presented to the comptroller.

Regular bank account was transferred to Community Bank, while General Assistance account is with MB Financial.

 

Motion passed to approve bills of $49,322.

Motion passed to approve General Assistance bills of $1,400.

Motion passed to require two signatures on checks of $5,000. or greater.

Supervisor Sloan will draft a credit card policy.

Brief discussion about the procedure used for determining the tax levy for 2013.

 

The Board adjourned to Executive Session at 8:35 p.m.
