The regular meeting of the River Forest Township took place on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the River Forest Civic Center.  The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Superior Carla Sloan.

Present:  Superior Sloan, Trustees O'Brien, Belmonte, Kelty and Romeo.

Also present:  Director Dick Chappell, Mental Health Administrator Avis Rudner, Clerk Karen Taubman, Attorney Pat Deady, and Assessor Pamela Kende.

     Filed appeals of real estate taxes

     Disability forms sent out

     Help given to seniors who needed assistance in filing

     Teaching individuals how to pay on line

     Purchase of a laptop - after tax season is over

 

Avis Rudner - General Assistance Report

      One opening on Youth Committee

      Workshops being sponsored with Oak Park Township

      Two individuals on General Assistance

 

Carla Sloan - Senior Committee

                   Importance of advertising township programs

                   Sponsoring a Computer Lab for seniors at the Library

                   Celebrate seniors all year - one event per month

                    A Senior Plan for River Forest is being put together

                   Signage is needed for the building:  River Forest Community Center,               Opportunities Knocks, and River Forest Township;  a low cost solution for             increased awareness of the Township

 

Approval of Bills

        Approved bills totaling $77,738.35

        Looking into bundling of insurance

 

New Business

         Budget up 2 percent for seniors - meals down, case units up

         Youth - IGA contract to be settled next month

 

At this time the Board went into Executive Session.  The observer left and did not return for the Civic Center Authority meeting.
