Deadline Looms for 2012 Historic Preservation Awards

Have a favorite local property? Nominate it for recognition in this year's installment of the annual awards.

Plenty of beautiful historic buildings throughout town. Why not nominate one for the Village of Oak Park's 2012 Historic Preservation Awards? 

Nominations will be accepted in the following categories: restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use and additions/new construction. Projects that address both historic preservation and sustainability issues will also be given special recognition.

The fine print, via Oak Park officials: "Projects should have been created within the past five years, and located within the boundaries of the Village. Nominations need not be in an historic district. Interior work also may be considered in conjunction with exterior work."

Any Oak Park resident, owner or tenant of eligible structures, member of local
preservation and historical societies, or members of local boards and commissions can make nominations, officials said. Here's how:
