Sometimes if you want something to happen, you just have to do it yourself.
That was the case for our family eighteen months ago. Our twin sons enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and I couldn't find a mom in the area who could help me process this family crisis.
So I decided to make connections with Blue Star Banners. This wonderful old tradition is still viable for our day and time. Each star on the service flag represents a family member who is serving in America's Armed Forces. Of course, our banner has two stars.
For the past eighteen months, I've been attending local military family support groups, meeting parents whose sons and daughters are going into the service and then presenting them with these banners FREE OF CHARGE.
Now I have found a way for our village and our friends to share the expense of these banners, through a peer-funding campaign. Here's a link to the website where I am raising funds:

I hope that you'll join us with your support. If you can give, GREAT! If you can share this link with your own network of friends, family and business associates, GREAT!
Either way, THANK YOU for bringing smiles to proud moms and dads in our neighborhoods who know the sacrifice and pride of having a son or daughter in the service.
