"Despicable Me" Movie Fundraiser to Support Oak Park Family

The Oak Park Women’s Guild will host their 5th annual movie fundraiser, a special viewing of "Despicable Me," on Saturday, January 25.  Tickets are $5/person and can be purchased at the door.  100% of the funds raised at the event will be donated to the Malagoli Patterson family to support the ongoing therapeutic and medical care of 2-year-old Amelia, who suffered a stroke at 3 weeks of age.

Amelia's stroke caused irreparable neurological damage and revealed underlying medical conditions.  She has undergone countless surgeries and treatments, participating in daily therapy sessions and monthly hospital visits, and the cost of her care continues to mount.  The Pattersons are faced with hospital and therapy bills totaling many thousands of dollars.

Despite the time and financial resources that the Pattersons dedicate to Amelia’s care, parents Megan and Brent generously share their time and talent with the Oak Park community.   Brent has shaped the living spaces of countless area families through his businesses, Patterson Painting & Remodeling and Basements by Brent.  Megan, who was born and raised in Oak Park, is the President of the First United Preschool Board, Vice President of St. Giles CCW Board, Auction Chair for the St. Giles Black and Gold Gala, and Room Parent for 7-year-old-son Noah’s classroom.

The Oak Park Women’s Guild’s Movie Fundraiser is a unique opportunity for the Oak Park community to support the Patterson Family.  Through a partnership with the Lake Theatre in Oak Park, all funds raised through the viewing of "Despicable Me" will be donated directly to the family.  In addition to ticket sales, money will be raised through drawings for prize baskets, a live auction, and one-time donations.

Doors open at 9:00am.
Guests will have the opportunity to peruse the prize baskets and enjoy other entertainment until the show begins at 10am.  The Guild hopes to sell out the main theater so guests should arrive early.

For more information on the event, or to donate to the Malagoli-Patterson Family through the Guild’s website, go to http://www.oakparkwomensguild.org/movie-fundraiser.html.
