Obituary: River Forest Firefighter John W. Bentel, Sr.
Mr. Bentel was a 32-year veteran of the department. He died Feb. 20 at age 58.
John W. Bentel, Sr., a 32-year veteran of the River Forest Fire Department, died of cancer Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. He was 58.
Mr. Bentel was born Jan. 7, 1955, in Oak Park. He was a retired fire lieutenant for the Village of River Forest.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Loretta (nee Langwinski); a son, John Jr.; two daughters, Faith Bucks and Megan; two brothers, Mark and Matt; and three grandchildren.

Services were held earlier this week at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory in Naperville.
