Men Show Gun, Steal Girl's Jacket: Oak Park Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, Dec. 14-17.

MONDAY, DEC. 17

Active Warrant

Timothy Howard, 22, of the 1200 block of Humphrey, was arrested and turned over to River Forest police when he was found wanted on an active warrant at 12:44 a.m. in the 400 block of Austin Boulevard.

Burglary Reported

An Oak Park resident reported their home in the 1000 block of Linden was burglarized between 4:45 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. The burglar is believed to have entered the home through an unlocked back door and an unknown amount of jewelry was taken.

Man Found Riding Stolen Bike

David L. Miles, 31, of the 7500 block of south Champlain in Chicago, was stopped by police for riding a bike on a village sidewalk in the 500 block of south Cuyler at 12:21 a.m. Further investigation and a name check found the bike belonged to someone else and Miles was charged with theft and held in lieu of bond.

DUI Arrest

Rafael A. Avcioglu, 18, of the 500 block of south Elmwood, was arrested after running a stop sign in the 400 block of north Ridgeland at 1 a.m. and causing a car accident, police said. Avcioglu was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Suspended License

Deunta Boyett, 20, of the 0-100 block of west Lemoyne, was arrested and charged with driving while his license was suspended in the 6000 block of west Roosevelt Road at 1:16 p.m. Boyett was later released on bond.

Catalytic Converter Stolen

The catalytic converter was stolen from an Oak Park resident's Honda Element in the 600 block of south Maple between 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 10 a.m. Dec. 16. The estimated loss was $1,200.

DUI Arrest

Donavan F. Jones, 21, of the 1000 block of Westmore-Meyers in Lombard, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the 0-100 block of Erie Court at about 1:30 a.m. Jones was later released after posting bond.

SATURDAY, DEC. 15

Another Catalytic Converter Stolen

An Oak Park resident reported that the catalytic converter on their Honda Element was stolen in the 0-100 block of Superior between midnight and 10:40 a.m. The estimated loss was $2,000.

Armed Robbery

Chicago police stopped Andre D. Mabrey, 20, of the 7200 block of south South Shore in Chicago, and Narai J. Spencer, 32, of the 200 block of north Central in Chicago at 7:45 p.m. in the 5300 block of west Madison in Chicago. The two were stopped in reference to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the first block of Madison in Oak Park.

Mabrey was positively identified as the offender who showed a handgun and stole a young Oak Park resident's jacket, police said. A name check later found that Spencer was wanted on a Cook County warrant for the manufacturing and delivery of cannabis. Mabrey was additionally charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and for possession of ammunition and a firearm without a FOID card. Both were held for bond hearings.

Package Stolen from Porch

A package worth $298 was reported stolen from the porch of a home in the 800 block of Columbian between noon Dec. 11 and 8 a.m. Dec. 15.

DUI Arrest

Victor H. Cisneros, 26, of the 2100 block of north Merrimac in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the 7100 block of North Avenue at 3:53 a.m. after he drove into multiple stores at that location. He was later released on bond.

THURSDAY, DEC. 14

Burglar Grabs Laptop

An Oak Park resident reported that someone broke into their home in the 1000 block of Highland between noon and 6:15 p.m. through a closed, but unlocked basement window. Once inside, the burglar stole a laptop worth $600.

Retail Theft

Ramia H. Agha, 60, of the first block of Washington, was charged with retail theft after allegedly concealing several cosmetic items in her purse from a store display at Dominick's Foods in the 200 block of Lake Street. Agha was later released on bond.

Attempted Burglary Damages Garage

A man described as white, in his 30s and wearing dark clothing was seen with a woman inside the garage of an Oak Park resident in the 900 block of north Elmwood around 2 p.m. The garage’s owner saw the two and they then drove off in a green Buick with temporary plates. The service door of the garage was later found with $200 in estimated damages.
