One subject has been arrested and another is at large after an armed robbery that took place at a Chicago Avenue convenience store in the late night hours of Dec. 20, police said.
Police said Dareece D. Montgomery, 18, of Chicago, and another man entered the 7-Eleven, 240 Chicago Ave., where one of the men displayed a silver handgun and told the employee to open the cash register, while the second jumped over the counter and took money and cigarettes valued at $44.
After arriving at the scene, police said they saw a man matching the description of one of the thieves, later identified as Montgomery, walking near Austin Boulevard and Iowa Street.
Police apprehended Montgomery in 600 block of North Humphrey Avenue and recovered the weapon used in the incident, police said. The incident is still under investigation.
