Aggravated Robbery, Burglaries Reported: Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, July 6-14

SUNDAY, July 14

Electronics Stolen in Burglary

Someone stole two pressure washers, two sewing machines, a Gateway tablet and a portable DVD player from a garage in the 1000 block of North Austin Boulevard between 4:30 p.m. July 13 and 4 a.m. July 14. The total estimated loss is $1,206, police said.

Suspended License Arrest

Police charged Tansra Barber, 32, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license around 11 p.m. in the 100 block of North Austin Boulevard. She was released on bond. 

Aggravated Driving While License Revoked

Police charged Otis Dear, 33, of Chicago with aggravated driving while license revoked around 11:10 p.m. in the 6300 block of Roosevelt Road. He was released on bond. 

SATURDAY, JULY 13

Battery

A man punched an Oak Park resident in the mouth around 5 a.m. at a business in the 100 block of West Chicago Avenue. Police said the offender, who was wearing a grey coat, red pants an a maroon baseball cap, approached the man behind the counter and punched him with a closed fist, then ran east through the parking lot.

Aggravated Robbery

An Oak Park resident reported an aggravated robbery in the 0-100 block of North Austin Boulevard after two men robbed him in an alley around 4 p.m. Police said one of the robbers put a "hard object" on the man's back while the second robber took his phone, cash, and wallet and ran east into Chicago. The total estimated loss is $260, police said. 

Rings Taken in Burglary

Someone broke into a home in the 900 block of South Lombard Avenue between 2 and 6:30 p.m. and stole six rings from a jewelry box. The total estimated loss is $20, police said. 

Car Stereo Stolen

Someone used a piece of concrete to break a car window in the 400 block of Clarence Avenue and stole the car stereo between 10:30 p.m. July 12 and 6:50 a.m. July 13. The total estimated loss is $300, police said. 

Window Broken, Cash Stolen

Someone used a brick to break a car window in the 600 block of South East Avenue between 11 p.m. July 12 and 6:30 a.m. July 13 and stole some cash. The total estimated cost of damage and loss is $102, police said. 

Pepper Spray, GPS, CDs Stolen

Someone stole a GPS unit, 75 CDs and a canister of pepper spray from a car in the 900 block of Lake Street between 11:20 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The total estimated loss is $310, police said. 

Bike Theft

  • Someone stole a $390 mountain bike that was locked to a rack in the 1000 block of North Boulevard between 1:30 and 3 p.m. 
  • Someone stole a mountain bike and a 36-pack of toilet paper from a garage in the 800 block of South Humphrey Avenue between 8:30 a.m. July 11 and 6 p.m. July 13. The total estimated loss is $1,015, police said. 
FRIDAY, JULY 12

Aggravated Robbery

A 16-year-old Oak Park boy reported an aggravated robbery after three other teens robbed him in the 500 block of Washington Boulevard. 

Police said one of the teens approached him around 10:30 p.m. and tried to hit him in the face. The teen then started running from the others and ran into a pole, police said, allowing the robbers to take his iPhone, shoes, backpack and $5.
 
They were last seen going south on East Avenue from Washington, police said. The total estimated loss is $260. 

Bike Theft

Someone stole a $120 bike from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of Highland Avenue between 6:30 and 10 p.m. 

$3,000 in Jewelry Stolen

Someone broke into an unlocked home in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue between 10:30 p.m. July 11 and about 8 a.m. July 12, ransacked a closet and stole about $3,000 in jewelry. 

Cash Stolen From Register

Someone used a pry tool to break the lock on a front door at a business in the 500 block of Madison Street between 8 p.m. July 11 and 10 a.m. July 12 and stole cash from the register. The total estimated cost of damage and loss is $220.

Electronics, Jewelry Stolen in Burglary

Someone broke a home in the 1000 block of Pleasant Street, ransacked the inside and stole two TVs, two DVD players, jewelry and cash. The total estimated loss is $1,830. 

Frog Statue Stolen

Someone stole a $750 frog statue from the front steps of a building in the 1100 block of Randolph Street between 7 and 9:30 a.m. 

Clothes Taken From UPS Package

Someone stole two tank tops, three pairs of leggings, a blouse and a dress from a UPS package in the 400 block of South Ridgeland Avenue between about noon and 7 p.m. The total estimated loss is $132, police said. 

Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

Police charged Tarik Page, 37, of Chicago with possession of drug paraphernalia around 4:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Austin Boulevard. He was released on bond. 

THURSDAY, JULY 11

Marijuana Arrest

Police charged Mark Treadwell, 33, of the 0-100 block of Randolph Street in Oak Park with marijuana possession around 10 p.m. in the 400 block of South Austin Boulevard. He was released on bond. 

SUNDAY, JULY 7

Sun-Times Box Stolen

Someone stole the blue Chicago Sun-Times newspaper box on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Marion Street between 4:30 a.m. July 6 and 4:30 a.m. July 7. The total estimated loss is $675, police said. 

SATURDAY, JULY 6

Newspaper Boxes Stolen

Someone stole the red Red Eye newspaper box and the white Hoy newspaper box from the sidewalk in the 700 block of South Austin Boulevard between 4:30 a.m. July 5 and 4:30 a.m. July 6. The total estimated loss is $900, police said.
