Armed Robbery on South Boulevard, DUI Arrests: Memorial Day Police Reports

Oak Park police reports from May 27

MONDAY, MAY 27  

Armed Robbery

Lashaun Hodges, 23, of Chicago was arrested for armed robbery after he punched a man, brandished a knife and demanded the man’s headphones and phone in the lobby of an apartment building in the 1100 block of South Boulevard. Police said the victim identified Hodges after police found him on a CTA train around 7 p.m. He was held for bond hearings. 

DUI

  • Chayro Ramirez, 34, of Chicago was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in the 1000 block of Harlem Avenue in Forest Park around 3 a.m. He was charged, given a June 17 court date and released on bond.   
  • Police charged Catrina Hunt, 44, of Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was found asleep behind the wheel in the 900 block of Lake Street around 3:40 a.m. Police said her blood alcohol content was .191. She was also charged with improper stopping on a roadway, given a June 13 court date and released on bond.  
  • Rezart Skendo, 40, of Darien was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he pulled over and put his hazard lights on in the 200 block of North Austin Avenue around 3:45 a.m. Police said Skendo was slumped over in the car with his head in the passenger seat. He was charged, given a June 13 court date and released on bond.   

Retail Theft

Victor Cales Escandon and Juan Torres-Algarin, both 38, of Chicago were arrested and charged with retail theft at CVS, 345 Madison St. after employees saw them concealing 17 bottles of Head & Shoulders shampoo and leave without paying around 1:40 p.m. They were processed and held for bond hearings.  

Man Steals Running Car 

A man in his early 20s stole a running car in the 500 block of South Austin Avenue around 3:50 p.m. A witness told police they saw the man get into the car, a black 2007 Chrysler 300 in the gas station parking lot, police said. The car was seen on I-290 at 25th Street. The total estimated loss is $13,000.  

The man was described as 5-feet-10, 160 pounds with long dreadlocks, a tattoo on his right forearm and wearing a white t-shirt, grey jeans and brown boots, police said. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole an unattended and unsecured men’s Trek bike, worth $300, in the 300 block of South Humphrey Street between 7:34 and 7:44 p.m.  

Window Broken

Someone threw two small pieces of concrete through two windows of a home in the 500 block of North Humphrey Street around 7:40 p.m.
