Arrest Made After River Forest Lurings

In two separate incidents, police say Chicago man approached women in River Forest.

A Chicago man has been charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly approaching women in River Forest and trying to lure them into his car, police said.

Giovanni Incandela, 54, of the 6900 block of Grand Ave., was identified in two separate incidents on Oct. 25.

In the first, police said Incandela was driving near North Avenue when he "aggressively attempted" to lure a 44-year-old woman into his car. In the second incident, also near North Avenue, he allegedly exited his car and followed an 33-year-old woman to her apartment. That woman was able to get inside her residence and lock the door, police said.

With this summer's still fresh in the minds of law enforcement and residents, police are issuing a public safety reminder. From Police Chief Gregory Weiss:

“With the horrendous events that occurred this past summer, the residents still have a level of anxiety. When strangers approach individuals for no apparent reason, it is an appropriate response to call the police, in fact we encourage it. It is important for the police to know what is going on even if it turns out to be harmless. In this case we may never know what Incandela’s true intent was, but by making the initial call we were able to identify and charge him with a misdemeanor.”
