Two Maywood men face felony burglary attempt charges after they reportedly tried to break into a home in the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue in River Forest Friday morning, police said Monday.

About 10:40 a.m. Friday, police responded to a burglary call in the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue. A resident told police she saw two males trying to break a rear first floor window in an attempt to gain entry to the home, police said. The men ran when they saw the resident.

Chaquelle C. Jones, 20, and Dale E. Morris, 19, were each charged with Felony Attempted Residential Burglary and are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 24.

They are being held on $10,000 bond.

Police are investigating a second burglary that occurred between about 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. the same morning in the 1300 block of Lathrop Avenue. Police said someone forced open the front door of the home and stole several electronic items.

"Although these incidents occurred within a two-hour timeframe on the same date, we have not yet observed an emerging pattern," police said in a statement.

"The River Forest Police Department is taking steps to attempt to identify the offenders in the Residential Burglary and have increased patrol in the area. We would also like to remind our residents to take appropriate precautions such as, locking your doors, ensuring you activate your alarm system, and take notice of your surroundings as you leave. Most importantly report suspicious activity as soon as you observe it."
