Car Burglaries and Stolen Bikes: Oak Park Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, Oct. 2-4

THURSDAY, OCT. 4

Car Ransacked

An unlocked car was entered sometime between 1 p.m. Oct. 3 and 9 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 300 block of south Harvey. Once inside, someone ransacked the vehicle and stole a gym bag containing workout clothes. The loss was estimated at $75.

Stolen Car Found

A car that was reported stolen in Bolingbrook was recovered in the 900 block of Lake Street at about 12:30 a.m., police reported. The 2012 Mazda MZ2 appeared to be in good condition.

Car Stopped For Junking, Arrest Made

Police reported that they stopped a car that was junking in an alley in the 700 block of south Austin Boulevard at about 10:39 a.m. A check of the car's registration revealed that Jose Pena Jr., 20, of the 1200 block of south 50th Court in Cicero, had a suspended driver's license. Pena was charged with driving with a suspended license and for driving while the car's registration was suspended for not having insurance.

Top Cut, Vehicle Burglarized

Police reported that a car was burglarized in the 0-100 block of Iowa Street sometime between 9 p.m. Oct. 3 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 4. An unknown person used a sharp cutting tool to cut through the convertible top of the victim's car and stole pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and 13 CDs. The total loss was estimated at $1,305.

Vehicle Burglarized on Harvey

A car was burglarized in the 1100 block of Harvey between 8 a.m. and noon. An unknown person entered the vehicle and then stole an I-Pass, a tablet laptop, a purse, $80 in cash and two credit cards. The total loss was estimated at $600.

Bike Stolen

An Oak Park resident reported to police that their bike was stolen on the 400 block of north Austin Boulevard sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:32 p.m. The bike had been secured and police are unsure of how it was removed. The loss was estimated at $120.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 3

iPhone Stolen From Maternity Room

A black iPhone with a pink case was stolen from a maternity room in the 0-100 block of Erie sometime between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. The loss was estimated at $230.

Pot Possession

A 21-year-old Oak Park resident was charged with possession of cannabis in the 400 block of Washington at about 10:32 p.m. The man was released after posting bond.

Bike Stolen

A bike was stolen in the 200 block of north Grove sometime between 9 p.m. and 11:14 p.m. The loss was estimated at $900.

TUESDAY, OCT. 2

Bench Stolen

An unknown person stole an iron bench in front of Anthony Lullo’s Hair Design, in the 700 block of South Boulevard, sometime between 5 p.m. on Sept. 29 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 2. The estimated loss was $75.
