Burglars Enter Kuba Jewelers Through Hole in Wall
Police say jewelry and cash was stolen from the Oak Park business after burglars cut a hole in the wall of a vacant building next to the shop.
Jewelry and cash was stolen from Kuba Jewelers, 820 S. Oak Park Ave., after burglars cut a hole in the wall of an adjacent property.
According to the Oak Park Police Department, a prying tool was used to force open the rear door of a vacant building at 818 S. Oak Park Ave. Once inside, a hole was cut in the wall and someone entered Kuba through it.
Police said the burglars entered sometime between 4 p.m. Feb. 24 and 11:45 a.m. Feb. 25.

The empty business next door once housed The Yova Shop, a coffee house that closed in May 2012.

They stole an unknown amount of jewelry and also used an unspecified tool to cut open a safe and take cash.
The estimated loss is not immediately known, but police said the estimated cost of the property damaged is $600.
