Copper Downspouts Stolen From Homes: River Forest Police Blotter

SATURDAY, JAN. 26

Theft Reported

Officers responded to a report of theft in the 800 block of Bonnie Brae around 4:26 p.m. Found stolen were about 50 feet of copper downspouts from the property. An estimate of the loss was unavailable at the time. The resident told police he believed the copper was stolen between Jan. 24-26.

DUI, Cannabis Arrest

Officers responded to a traffic accident in the area of Harlem and Central around 1:50 a.m. Further investigation on the scene revealed that one driver, Scott David Subeck, 40, of the 0-100 block of Brookhill Drive in Northfield, was driving under the influence, police said. Subeck reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Also found was 5.8 grams of cannabis and a glass pipe. Subeck was charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic violations.

FRIDAY, JAN. 25

Copper Stolen

A resident in the 800 block of Bonnie Brae reported that copper downspouts were stolen from their property between Jan 20-25. Between 8-10 feet of downspouts were stolen from the south side of the home.

THURSDAY, JAN. 24

Vehicle Burglarized

Officers responded to a home in the 0-100 block of Forest around 9:43 p.m. to investigate a report of a burglary from a resident's car. The victim told police the burglary likely occurred between 6-9:30 p.m. The vehicle was left unlocked and the resident was unable to identify what might have been stolen.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 23

Retail Theft Arrest

Officers responded to Jewel Foods, 7525 W. Lake St., around 5:33 p.m. after a report of a retail theft that had just occurred with an offender in custody. Katie Jares, 30, of the 1000 block of south Des Plaines in Forest Park, was charged with retail theft after officers determined she had attempted to steal $198.21 in miscellaneous merchandise.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

Officers observed a vehicle traveling 44 mph in a 30-mph zone around 12:05 a.m. in the 1200 block of Harlem. Officers stopped the vehicle and upon approaching the driver, reported smelling cannabis. A wooden smoking pipe was found containing cannabis residue. The driver, Brandon C. Hammond, 22, of the 7700 block of west Monroe in Forest Park, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a ticket for speeding.

TUESDAY, JAN. 22

Vehicle Burglarized

An officer was sent to the River Forest Community Center, 8020 Madison Street, around 8:13 p.m. to investigate a report of a burglary from a vehicle at that location. The victim told police that between 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, about $3 in change was stolen from his unlocked car, parked on a side street nearby.

Power Tools Stolen

Police were sent around 10:18 a.m. to the 200 block of Park to investigate a report of a burglary to a vehicle that had just occurred. The victim told police that a man in his 40s was seen feeling the area in a small, white vehicle. The offender was seen by someone removing power tools from an unlocked van parked on the block. The total loss was estimated at $800.

MONDAY, JAN. 21

Criminal Trespass

Police reported that a man who was known to have received criminal trespass warnings from River Forest Town Center in the past, was seen outside a business there around 12:51 p.m. Jeremiah Ollison, 23, of the 0-100 block of north Lockwood in Chicago, was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to land.
