Condoms, Pregnancy Tests Stolen, DUI, Theft: Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, June 10-16, include a woman charged with stealing $127 in earrings from Claire's, a 10-year-old arrested for theft and more.

SUNDAY, JUNE 16

Business Break-in

Someone pulled the locks off the front door of a business in the 6200 block of Roosevelt Road around 4:20 a.m. and went through the cash drawer, but didn't steal anything. The total estimated damage is $200, police said. 

Christmas Ornament Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a garage in the 1100 block of South East Avenue between 3 p.m. June 15 and 10 a.m. June 16 and stole $2 in coins and a Christmas tree ornament from an unlocked car. The total estimated loss is $12, police said.

A 1996 Honda Accord reported stolen in Chicago June 14 was recovered in Oak Park. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 15

Man Gets Away With Condoms, Pregnancy Tests in Theft

A man stole $143 in crabmeat, condoms, pregnancy tests and laundry detergent from Dominick's, 259 Lake St., around 7:30 p.m., police said. Most of the items he stole were found in an alley in the 100 block of North Humphrey Avenue, except for three boxes of condoms and two pregnancy tests, police said. 

Burglary

Police charged Matthew Thomas, 25, of Cicero with burglary after he broke into a black BMW around 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of Randolph Street. He was processed and held on bond, police said. 

Apartment Break-in

Someone removed a window screen to break into an apartment in the 200 block of North Grove Avenue around 6 p.m. and left without stealing anything, police said. 

Kid, 10, Arrested for Bike Theft

A 10-year-old kid was arrested and charged with theft after taking a bike around 1:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard.

Computer Stolen 

Someone went into an unlocked garage in the 1000 block of South Austin Boulevard between 10:15 p.m. June 14 and 9:50 a.m. June 15, used a pry tool to break into a car and stole a Samsung Tablet 2. The estimated damage and loss is $400, police said. 

Unattended Purse Stolen in Salvation Army Store

Someone stole a purse left on a couch in the Salvation Army shop in the 6500 block of Roosevelt Road around 6:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $50, police said. 

Violet Plants Stolen From Business

Someone stole three potted violet plants between 10 p.m. June 14 and 9 a.m. June 15 from a business in the 1100 block of Madison Street. The total estimated loss is $110, police said. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $300 bike from a yard in the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard between 7 and 7:30 p.m.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14

DUI

Police charged David Clayton, 39, of Chicago with DUI around 11:40 p.m. Police stopped Clayton after he ran a red light in the 6900 block of West North Avenue. Police said his blood alcohol content was .197. He was processed and released on bond. 

Woman Arrested for Stealing $127 in Earrings

Police charged Delora Johnson, 22, of Maywood with retail theft after she stole $127 in earrings from a display at Claire's, 407 N. Harlem Ave., around 2:30 p.m. She was processed and held on bond. 

Teen Arrested for Battery

A 15-year-old Oak Park girl was arrested for battery around 8 p.m. at the police department for a fight she had with another 15-year-old girl on May 7 in the 200 block of North Scoville Avenue, police said. 

Warrant: Controlled Substance

Police charged Tyler Romine, 23, of Addison with a warrant out of DuPage County for possession of a controlled substance around 2:45 p.m. at the police department. He was processed and released after posting bond. 

Lawn Chairs Stolen

Someone stole two lawn chairs from a yard in the 400 block of Augusta Avenue between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The total estimated loss is $300, police said. 

Cell Phone Stolen

Someone stole a cell phone left unattended in McDonald's, 111 Madison St., between 9 and 10 a.m. The total estimated loss is $50, police said. 

Thefts From Unlocked Cars

  • Someone stole a Chase bank card from an unlocked car in the 300 block of South Oak Park Avenue between 11 p.m. June 13 and 8 a.m. June 14. 
  • Someone stole $3 from the center console of an unlocked car in the 300 block of South Kenilworth Avenue between 11 p.m. June 13 and 8:50  p.m. June 14.

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $240 BMX-style bike from a rack in the 500 block of North Harlem Avenue around 9:15 p.m. 

THURSDAY, JUNE 13

iPad Mini Stolen

Someone stole an unattended iPad mini from a display at a store in the 6200 block of Roosevelt Road around 11 a.m. The total estimated loss is $350, police said. 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12

Burglary: Hedge Trimmer Stolen

A resident reported a burglary in the 600 block of Home Avenue after they saw a man get out of a black Chevy Impala, go into their open garage and leave with a Black & Decker hedge trimmer around 9:10 a.m., police said. The total estimated loss is $40.

MONDAY, JUNE 10

Stolen Car Found

A GMC Denali reported stolen earlier in the day was recovered in Chicago.
