Cops Catch Teens With Drugs, Apartment Egged in Burglary

Oak Park police reports, Oct. 5-8

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8

Drug Transaction on Madison

Jordan Berry, 19, of the 500 block of South Ridgeland Avenue in Oak Park was arrested for dealing marijuana in the 500 block of Madison Street. 

Police saw a Berry and a 15-year-old girl in a convenience store parking lot in the 500 block of Madison Street about 3:30 a.m.

The officer smelled marijuana on the teens when asking why the young girl why she was out past curfew, police said. Police found 19 small bags, about 20.5 grams, of marijuana in Berry's backpack. He was processed, given a Nov. 1 court date and held on bond. The girl was cited for violating curfew and released to her parents.

Garage Break-in

Someone stole a belt cutter from a garage in the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard between 6 p.m. Oct. 7 and 7 a.m. Oct. 8. 

Messy Burglary on Washington

Someone pushed an air conditioning unit through a window to break into an apartment in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard. Once inside, the offender took a carton of eggs from the fridge and broke them all over the apartment, then ransacked the bedrooms and stole a Playstation 3. The total estimated loss is $300, police said.

$2,600 in Electronics Stolen in Burglary

Someone ransacked a home in the 300 block of South Lombard Avenue and stole a laptop, an iPad, an iPod, a Canon Rebel camera and two bikes between 9:15 and 11:35 a.m. The total estimated loss is $2,629, police said. 

Car Part Stolen

Someone stole the catalytic converter from a car in the 500 block of North Humphrey Boulevard between 11 p.m. Oct. 7 and 1:15 p.m. Oct. 8. The total estimated loss is $200, police said.

Teens Arrested for Burglary

Police arrested two Chicago juveniles, ages 12 and 13, after they were found with items that had been stolen from a car in the 200 block of North Austin Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. They were processed and returned to their parents. 

MONDAY, OCTOBER 7

Bike Stolen From Yard

Someone stole a bike, helmet, lock and water bottle cage from a yard in the 800 block of Lyman Avenue between 2 and 7 p.m. The total estimated loss is about $535, police said.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5

Property Damage on Forest

Someone broke a light fixture on the front of a home in the 300 block of Forest Avenue between 6 p.m. Oct. 4 and 9:20 p.m. Oct. 5. The estimated cost of damage is $50.
