AUG. 12

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A GPS navigation unit valued at $150 was stolen from an unlocked Pontiac Grand Am parked in the 300 block of South Elmwood Avenue.

Theft Arrest

Scottie T. Brown, 24, of Bellwood, was charged with theft for possession of stolen goods while in the 800 block of Lake Street, police said.

Criminal Damage

A chunk of concrete was used to smash the rear window of a home in the 400 block of North Grove Avenue, causing about $900 in damage.

Two large rocks were used to break front windows of a home in the 300 block of North Marion Street, as well as the driver’s side window of a Lexus sedan parked outside the home. Estimated damage was $1,100.

A tire iron was used to break off a door knob to a business in the 1100 block of Garfield Street. A second slide-bolt lock prevented entry.

Criminal Defacement

Black marker was used to vandalize a garbage can lid in the 0-100 block of Le Moyne Parkway.

Burglary

A window air conditioning unit of a residence in the 100 block of Washington Boulevard was stolen. The victim saw two men drive away with the unit in a black newer model Chevy Impala.

Residential Burglary

An Apple iPad, laptop, digital camera and were stolen from a break-in to a garden apartment in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue. Estimated loss was $4,500.

AUG. 14

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Two cymbals and a drum were stolen from a 2003 Subaru parked in the 700 block of Ontario Street. Estimated loss was $700.

Criminal Trespass

Jerry Bowles, 38, of the 55500 block of West Congress Parkway in Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to property while in the 100 block of West Washington Boulevard, police said.

Theft

An Apple iPad was stolen from a locked cabinet inside a locked classroom at Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School, 508 N. Kenilworth Ave.

About $120 in cash was stolen from a wallet inside a locked locker at Fitness Formula Club, 1114

A girl’s bike valued at $116 was stolen from outside a business in the 300 block of Madison Street.

A window air-conditioning unit was stolen from the back yard of a residential building in the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard.

Criminal Damage to Auto

Three cars had driver’s side tires punctured by a trio of bike-riding teens, causing an estimated $425 worth of damage.
